1.About First Principles

First Principles (firstprinciplesthinking.in) is a free practice tool for first-principles thinking on business problems. It is a personal hobby project run by Kaushik Mishra, an individual, under the name kaushik_speaks. It is not run by a company.

By using the site, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

2.Who can use it

You must be 18 or older to sign in and create a profile. Use your own email address, and keep access to it secure. You're responsible for what happens under your account.

3.A free hobby project

First Principles is offered free of charge as a hobby. That means:

• I may change, pause, limit or stop any part of the site at any time, including usage limits on how many cases or feedback requests you can make.
• The site may sometimes be slow, unavailable or have errors.
• If I ever introduce paid features, I'll tell you clearly in advance. Nothing you've used for free will be charged retrospectively.

4.AI-generated content

• Cases are fictional. Companies, people and numbers in cases are made up for practice. Any resemblance to real organisations is coincidental.
• Feedback is generated by AI (Claude, by Anthropic). It can be wrong, incomplete or inconsistent, and the same answer may receive a different score on another try.
• It isn't professional advice. Nothing on the site is business, financial, legal, investment or career advice. Don't rely on it for real decisions without your own judgement and, where needed, a qualified professional.
• Scores are for practice. They are not a certification, qualification or assessment of your professional ability.

5.Fair use

Please don't:

• try to manipulate the grader or scores, for example by putting instructions to the AI in your answers;
• use bots, scripts or scraping to access the site or copy its cases;
• overload the site, get around usage limits, or try to access other people's data or the site's systems;
• submit anything unlawful, abusive, hateful or that infringes someone else's rights;
• include confidential information belonging to your employer, clients or anyone else;
• resell, republish or build a competing product from the site's cases, feedback or design.

If someone breaks these rules, I may limit, suspend or close their access.

6.Your answers

You own the answers you write. By submitting them, you allow me to store and process them to run the site: sending them to the AI for feedback, saving them to your profile, and using combined, anonymised statistics to improve First Principles. I won't publish your answers or attach your name to them without your permission.

7.My content and brand

The site's design, code, cases, prompts and feedback formats, and the names and logos First Principles and kaushik_speaks, belong to Kaushik Mishra. You may use the site for your own personal learning.

Sharing is welcome: you're free to share your score card and short quotes from your feedback on social media, with a link back to the site.

8.No warranties and limits on liability

The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Because this is a free hobby project run by an individual, to the fullest extent permitted by law I am not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions you make based on the site's content. My total liability to you for any claim relating to the site will not exceed ₹1,000. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

9.Ending your use

You can stop using the site at any time. To delete your account and data, email kaushikmishra.official@gmail.com from the email address you sign in with (see the Privacy Policy).

10.Other websites and services

The site uses and links to services run by others, such as the email service that delivers sign-in codes. Their own terms and policies apply when you use them, and I'm not responsible for their content or practices.

11.Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute will be handled by the courts in India that have jurisdiction. Before going to court, please email me so we can try to sort it out informally.

12.Changes to these Terms

I may update these Terms from time to time and will change the "Last updated" date above. For significant changes, I'll show a notice on the site. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the updated Terms.
